alist paintings of Leonora\nCarrington and Remedios Varo\, her grandmother
’s sculptures\, La Malinche\, La\nLlorona\, the robot parts their uncle us
ed to build\, and the sacred music her\nfather listened to. Their sound wo
rk draws inspiration from the tradition of\nMexican - latin american song
and explores the intersection of different\nlanguages\, cultures\, and tec
hnologies\, as well as their Nahuatl roots (their\nname means “bell” in Na
huatl). Their music\, recipient of the Unesco-Aschberg\nbursary in 2014\,
has been presented at some of Mexico’s most important cultural\ncenters\,
such as the MUAC (University Museum of Contemporary Art)\, the Franz\nMaye
r Museum\, and the Center for Digital Culture in Mexico City.\n\nSince arr
iving in Tiohtiá:ke/Mooniyang/Montréal\, their work has taken a new\ndirec
tion: the voice and the body as fluid\, mysterious\, mutable and\ncollabor
ative materials. Soledad explores hybrid musical and bodily territories\,\
	nin search of a root—an identity—a nepantla\, a Nahuatl word often transla
ted as\n“the land in the middle” that they might call “home.”\n\nhttps://s
