DESCRIPTION:2026 - Fifty Years of UK Punkrock!\n\nWith 2017 marking the U.K
. Subs’ 40th anniversary\; this legendary punk band\ncontinues to represen
t the true spirit of punk rock. Inspired by the Damned at\nthe birth of Br
itish Punk\, the now equally legendary Charlie Harper formed the\nSubs out
of his then R&B outfit The Marauders\, circa summer 1977.\nStarting out a
s The Subversives\, the name was shortened to The Subs and then\nchanged t
	o U.K. Subs\, whilst early line-ups merged their high-speed R&B sound\nint
o punk.\nOctober 1977 saw Charlie joined by Nicky Garratt on guitar\, and
it was the\nHarper/Garratt song writing partnership that would go on to co
llaborate on the\nband’s most successful record releases. Through 1977 and
1978 the band played\nshows all over London including the infamous Roxy p
unk club\, building up a\nfiercely loyal and sizeable following. Their fir
st ‘recorded’ output was on the\n‘Farewell To The Roxy’ LP.\nThis bought t
hem to the attention of John Peel who was obviously impressed\nenough to o
ffer to finance their first single. However\, City Records ended up\nrelea
sing their first brilliant single\, C.I.D\, in September 1978. It became a
\nhuge indie number 1 hit. In 1979\, they signed to Gem Records and surpri
sed\neveryone by becoming one of the most consistently and visibly success
ful punk\nbands\, with seven consecutive UK Top 30 hits between 1979-81 –
	Stranglehold\,\nTomorrows Girls\, She’s Not There\, Warhead\, Teenage\, Pa
rty In Paris and Keep On\nRunning. They also scored two UK top ten albums
	– Brand New Age and Crash Course\n– establishing themselves throughout the
world with a heavy touring schedule\nthat still continues to this day.\nL
ed by the indefatigable 72 years young Charlie Harper – now venerated as t
he\ngodfather of UK punk – the band has continued to improve through vario
us\nline-ups and record companies.\nStill touring worldwide\, they maintai
n that true spirit of punk rock continuing\nto inspire each subsequent gen
eration of fans. There has never been any division\nof fan and band with t
he Subs\, and Charlie’s unrelenting love of his audience\nand music shines
through. This is something that galvanized listeners of Steve\nLamacq’s B
BC 6music show to vote them as the most respected of Punk ‘icons’\, to\nwi
n the 2010 Punk World Cup.\n\n2016 saw the eagerly anticipated final album
‘Ziezo’ released – via a fabulously\nsuccessful PledgeMusic campaign – to
a crescendo of critical acclaim\, as they\ncompleted their quest to be th
e first band to release their official albums\nalphabetically A to Z!. The
worldwide touring regime has continued apace –\nincluding the USA\, Europ
e and Japan as the band continue to entertain and amaze\nwith their powerf
ul live shows.\nWith a fabulous line up in place of Charlie\, Steve Straug
han on guitar\, Alvin\nGibbs on bass and Stefan Haublein on drums\, the U.
	K. Subs continue to entertain\,\nenlighten and enthuse with blistering rec
ordings as well as their ever-popular\nenthralling live shows.\nLike a vin
tage wine – the U.K. Subs just get better and better.\n\n \n\nU.K.SUBS MAI
