Amnesty International Punk Write-a-thon!

Forest fires in Indonesia, AI death cults in San Francisco, jet-powered drones hurtling autonomously into Kyiv, brigades of young isreali men with slingshots attacking olive farmers in the West Bank, the highest U.S. military budget in history, the largest hurricane ever recorded off the coast of Mexico, tent city concentration camps all across the Unite States, unprecedented flooding in Chile, increasing femicides here in Montreal. This world feels so sick and I don't know about you but I feel insane and honestly, I think that’s a sane response. And there is only one antidote. Community engagement, community activism and community support. I'll be honest it won’t fix the bigger picture. But it will make a difference for your immediate feelings of paralysis and it will make a huge difference specifically in the lives of 8 people all of whom are fighting for causes unrelated to anything I mentioned above. This world is sick in so many directions and we all need to step up to help ourselves and help one another.

This year for Amnesty Internationals 25th anniversary of the annual Write-for-Rights campaign I will be hosting a letter writing event combined with an energetic live music show at Turbo Haus. We will spend the afternoon writing letters to political activists in eight different countries letting them know that we see them, we hear them and we believe in their cause. I cannot overstate how meaningful these letters are to people working tirelessly on the front lines to defend human rights for all. This heads-down-but-social afternoon will be broken up by 3 bands, my own band You Enemy, Sara Elbourne and "Dirty Milk". So bring your wrists, your minds and your ears and let's inspire one another to push for a better future.
