Sun Ra tells us “it's all about people doing something else other than what they have done” and each time Egyptian Cotton Arkestra plays they do something they haven’t done before. The group fits loosely under the umbrellas of free jazz, spiritual jazz, and free improvisation. But we're defined by nothing other than our bodies and minds and instruments, our responses to each other and to the sound bouncing around the room, our musical language constructing itself in the moment at a given time and place.
